6 Years of Powering Global Institutions Toward Energy for All

Over the past 6 years, we’ve come to understand country and implementer-level needs around energy information. With our partners, we’ve worked on pioneering projects that move the needle toward the goal of affordable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.

For the projects below, Fraym used machine-learning to generate precise data that didn’t exist before—data that is essential for closing gaps in the energy sector. This data includes indicators like access to energy, consumption, ability to pay, and potential demand growth, all with spatial granularity across the globe.

As we celebrate the progress, we recognize there is more to be done and we look forward to building on what we’ve started together.

Fraym capabilities for Energy Assessments

Experience with key customers: The leading development organizations in the energy sector such as USAID/Power Africa, USTDA, Shell Foundation, African Development Bank, World Bank, IFC, and others have successfully deployed Fraym’s technology to enhance analysis and implement energy access programs globally with neighborhood level precision.

Geographic reach: Fraym has developed replicable and highly scalable methods to produce actionable and comparable data on energy access, consumption, demand and ability to pay across any geography of interest. To date we have delivered energy-related data across Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Breadth of actionable data: Fraym’s approach is tried and tested and can provide precise and hyper-local insight on the requirements for universal residential electrification, institutional electrification and powering of productive uses, and access to clean cooking.

Enhancement of traditional data sources: Given the general paucity of publicly available data and differences in definitions and methodology from various sources, data quality may vary due to delayed collection cycles. Where no reliable data is available through these channels, Fraym now fields surveys to generate enhanced data to fill in critical data gaps. These efforts typically take 12 weeks and can show near real-time impacts of events such as the global COVID-19 pandemic, energy crisis provoked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, extreme weather events and climate change.

Update and refresh cycles: Fraym produces annual, semi-annual or quarterly updates at settlement level including unique data categories during each update cycle.

Data interoperability: Fraym data continues to be platform-agnostic and can be easily integrated with any tool, workflow, or process to ensure maximum usability.
