What It Is

A groundbreaking tool that tracks gender norms and related outcomes across multiple themes in Kenya and Nigeria

Combines survey data and satellite imagery using machine learning to produce data down to the ward level

The data engine addresses longstanding challenges in data availability by producing granular, scalable, timely, and cost-effective information that captures hyperlocal variations often obscured by national datasets.

Gender Norms Data Engine

Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Fraym conducted a study on the economic ROI of childcare programs, revealing how unpaid caregiving responsibilities are a crucial barrier to women participating in the labor force.

Validating the G-NORM Scale in Kenya and Nigeria

The G-NORM is a scalable, gold-standard metric for tracking progress toward gender-equitable norms across countries. Fraym validated the G-NORM scale with nationally representative data in Kenya and Nigeria. It fills a critical data gap in gender-focused research, providing stakeholders with reliable, high-quality data to track shifts in gender norms over time, compare trends within and across countries, and inform evidence-based interventions and policies.
